Since 1987, we have organised dozens of group tours throughout
New Zealand for visitors from over 20 countries, including Australia,
UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile,
Colombia, France, Switzerland, Germany, PNG, South Africa, Japan,
Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, South Africa, Finland,
& Sweden.
Many of these have focused on farming, agriculture, wine and
related subjects, whilst some have been more holiday orientated,
looking at and enjoying our country lifestyle, scenery and leisure
attractions.
We have hundreds of contacts throughout New Zealand on a wide
range of farm types, as well as in agricultural processing, service,
extension and research. Possible subjects to base a tour around
could be farming, dairying, sheep and
beef, fruit growing, viticulture and wine, vegetables, arable
cropping, pasture establishment, production and management, flower
growing, forestry, irrigation, management and economics.
Visitor Categories
Tour groups generally fall in to one of the following main
categories:
- * Special Agricultural Study Groups
- * Farmers on holiday
* Farmer or Grower Associations
* Trade & technical groups
* Academics
* Student groups (mainly Asian)
* Incentive groups
* Conference delegations
* Independent self drive visitors
* Cultural or political group
Tours can be of any length, although most are around 10-20
day's duration. (You need around 14-20 days to have a comprehensive
and leisurely look at New Zealand. However domestic flights can
be used to speed things up, if required.)
Number: Groups can be of any number, but costs are
more reasonable if there a re 20 or more in
a group to spread the overhead costs of coach, farm and industry
visits and guides. Free of charge tours are available for tour
leaders/co-ordinators if the pre determined minimum numbers are
reached - usually 15-20 paying tour party members.
Transportation - is usually by tour coach, but in some
situations, rail, domestic air and sea ferries are used. Accommodation
is mainly in 3- 5 star hotels, with many visitors also wishing
to enjoy a night or two on a farmstay. The group is split up
with 2-6 people going to several different farmer hosts, for
a dinner, bed and breakfast experience in a private farm home,
with a chance to look around the host property and discuss matters
of common interest. Farm stays are often a highlight of a tour
of New Zealand. The farms we choose for visitors are always good
examples of the NZ style of farming and w selecthosts who are
hospitable and good communicators.
Language: Although English is our core language in
New Zealand, translation for non English speakers is not a problem
as we have French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and
other language guides available.
Leisure: But it's not all farming. We do provide an
opportunity on our tours for visitors to enjoy our wonderful
scenic and leisure attractions, and to meet friendly New Zealanders
going about their day to day lives. Many of our groups wish to
combine business with pleasure or just enjoy a Country Style
holiday, whilst in New Zealand.
We hope that you will entrust the organisation of your New
Zealand tour experience to Farm To Farm Tours.
